Pope Francis has appointed 22 new members for the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
Four cardinals are among these new members: Angelo de Donatis, Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome, Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, Luis Ladaria Ferrer, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Ricardo Blázquez Pérez, Archbishop of Valladolid (Spain).
Five other bishops are also on the list: Mgr Amilton Manoel da Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Curitiba (Brazil), Mgr Paolo Bizzeti, Apostolic Vicar of Anatolia (Turkey), Mgr Sebastian Francis Shaw, Archbishop of Lahore (Pakistan); Mgr Paskalis Bruno Syukur, Bishop of Bogor (Indonesia), and Mgr José de Jesús González Hernández, Prelate of Jesús María (Mexico).
Finally, this list of new members includes six superiors of male religious congregations and seven superiors of female congregations.
For the male congregations: Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Father Guillermo Leon Arboleda Tamayo, President of the Subiaco Cassinese Congregation (union of Benedictine abbeys), Brother Robert Irvin Schieler, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Father Alejandro Moral Antón, Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine, Father Roberto Genuin, Minister General of the Capuchins, and Father Leonir Mario Chiarello, Superior General of the Scalabrinians.
For the female congregations: Mother Kathleen Appler, Superior General of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesians of Don Bosco); Mother Françoise Massy, Superior General of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Mary, Mother Luigia Coccia, Superior General of the Comboni Missionary Sisters, Mother Simona Brambilla, Superior General of the Consolata Missionary Sisters, Mother Rita Calvo Sanz, Superior General of the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady, and Olga Krizova, General President of the Secular Institute of Don Bosco Volunteers.
