The World Day of Consecrated Life is celebrated on this day of February 2nd in the church, celebration of the presentation of Jesus in the temple. The religious vocation is a gift of God. Consecrated persons, religious and religious daily dedicate their lives to prayer, service to the neighbor and the mission. Blessed Mary of the Passion reminds us of the value and importance of this feast.
“…Let us enter deeper into the spirit of our vocation. Let us say by our whole lives that we wish to be victims like doves and to be consumed like symbolic candles, spreading around us the light and love of Jesus.” O! thank God who called and chose you to live in his tabernacle. Let us not forget that we cannot be missionaries without suffering. Simeon told Mary: “…a sword will pierce your own soul. Mary kept all these mysteries in her heart, faithfully believing in these divine proclamations. She pondered them over and over again.” (Liturgical Meditations : February 2nd – Purification of the Most Blessed Virgin).
"As I would like to see us take seriously
our vocation! She is so beautiful, let's put it there! " Blessed Mary of the Passion. CR / 2,397
The Consecrated Life, deeply rooted in the example and teaching of Christ the Lord, is a gift of God the Father to his Church through the Holy Spirit. By the profession of the evangelical counsels the characteristic features of Jesus — the chaste, poor and obedient one — are made constantly "visible" in the midst of the world and the eyes of the faithful are directed towards the mystery of the Kingdom of God already at work in history, even as it awaits its full realization in heaven. Vita Consecrata, N1, 1996.
Happy feast !
