I
entered the Institute in 1966 just before Vatican
II. When I decided, I had a restlessness in me,
something which I could not put in words. My desire
was to marry. Settle down and have a large family.
As things turned out to, later proved to be true, I
do belong to a large family of F.M.M.
I was
touched by the infinite LOVE OF GOD who will always
care for us and do things in His own way and in His
own time.
My parents were both dead and we were a family of
eight. I was the eldest girl, so it was logical that
my mission was to take care of the youngest ones. In
order to set my mind at rest I went to confession
and asked for advice. I was told that I had a
vocation.
I pleaded what about my family? " God will take care
of them".
I
entered in Loughglynn, a beautiful setting in
Roscommon, where the FMM were very popularly known
as the Cheese Sisters. Every morning the donkey
carts brought in the big containers of fresh milk,
milk which will be transformed into big rounds of
delicious cheese.
We were a happy group of sixteen novices with the
usual ups and down as Vatican II was creeping in and
bringing many changes to religious life. |
