" SHEN -TI, SHEN -TI! ":
EUCHARIST, EUCHARIST
|
The Eucharist is the Word made silent
and Assunta is silent.
The Eucharist is listening and
Assunta, attentive, carries out each word heard.
The Eucharist is presence in history
... and Assunta, is not indifferent to it but, in order to save it, she
lives out the drama of humanity.
The Eucharist is the poor Jesus ...
and Assunta lets herself be detached from and divested of
all.
The Eucharist is obedience to the
word of the priest ... and Assunta, minor, obeys God by obeying her
Superiors.
|
|
The Eucharist is humility because the
God Man “vanishes” to become a piece of bread ... and Assunta desires to
be transformed, to lose her own identity by abasing herself, so as to be
recreated in the image of Jesus and Mary.
The Eucharist is inseparable from the
Cross ... and Assunta thirsts to participate in the sufferings of
Christ.
The Eucharist is a memorial of the
Resurrection ... and Assunta, freely, lives the Resurrection, her soul
filled with joy.
|

|
|
The Eucharist is praise and
thanksgiving ... and Assunta, acknowledging her “nothingness” opens
herself with true gratitude.
The
Eucharist
is
total giving in love ... and Assunta gives herself completely to Jesus;
she accomplishes each little action for his love and abandons herself to
him. “All for Jesus!” and, faced with what costs her, “it’s the same
thing”. |
