"Franciscan women called to live the kenosis of Christ in creative fidelity and solidarity with our suffering world"

Prayer for the General Chapter 2008

Our Father Most Holy, God of tenderness and mercy, look at our hands:
do they carry the marks of your beloved Son?
He came down among us.
Sown in the earth, He grew like a tree:
the new tree of Life, the Cross.
Through it, He went back up to You.
But the Cross remains planted in our midst;
With its great arms it embraces the whole earth
to lead our suffering humanity back to You.

Our Father Most Holy, God of tenderness and of mercy, look at our hands:
they are empty, poor, powerless.
But they are stretched towards You with the desire to receive your Holy Spirit.
Like in the days of the first creation
He envelopes the universe with his silent and active presence
so that the new creation will take form where Christ will be all in all.
Grant us to allow Him to fashion for us hands open to your Presence,
raised up to intercede, stretched out to serve;
grant us to allow Him to mark our hands with the stigmata of conformity to Christ;
so that we may become
face of your Face of Light, for a humanity searching for meaning;
life of your Life, for a humanity wounded by death.

Our Father Most Holy, God of tenderness and mercy,
we are on the path towards the rendez-vous of the General Chapter:
visit us, stay with us, You our creator, our saviour, our consoler.
We ask you this through the intercession of Mary and of your saints.

Mary, woman of YES,
grant that we may live this rendez-vous like an Annunciation.

Francis, whose life was lived to the rhythm of Christ’s footsteps on the path of kenosis and resurrection,
support our steps on the path of conversion.

Mary of the Passion, who welcomed and lived the gift of God for the Institute,
guide us so that this rendez-vous
may become the source of a new creative and generous fidelity.

Our Seven Martyrs, Assunta and all our sisters who have preceded us on the path
and are close to God, be with us
so that this rendez-vous may become a song of praise and thanksgiving.

FMM, sisters sent to the four corners of the world, we are all invited to this rendez-vous.
Let us pray, let us hold hands, so that this may be a celebration of communion and unity.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and until the end of time. Amen!
