Today is the 82nd
World Day of
Universal Mission,
celebrated
throughout the
world. It was in
1926 that Pope Pius
XI instituted this
day in declaring: “a
day of prayer and
reflection will be
celebrated in all
dioceses, parishes,
and Catholic
institutions”.
As a consequence,
our Liturgy was
filled with symbols
of significance for
us: songs as well as
intentions in
different languages,
hands were raised
during the
offertory, the new
mission handbook was
carried in
procession to the
altar; sisters from
the different
countries gathered
around the altar
with the celebrant
at the greeting of
peace; and the Our
Father was said each
in her own
language.
This morning we are
invited to enter the
third objective of
the Chapter, the
Constitutions. Sr.
Françoise Pécresse,
General Secretary,
explained clearly
how we will treat
the different steps
during this next
week. The Capitulars
will pronounce
themselves on the
modifications of
some articles. It is
not a small task.
All afternoon in
Assembly, the
Capitulars will
continue their
discussions left
unfinished yesterday
on the lines of
actions for the
priorities. During
the work on the
Constitutions, the
editing team will
attempt to put order
to the vision,
priorities and lines
of action so we will
have a draft or two
of a document on the
second objective. |
