“Peace and all Good” to all! For today is the feast of Saint Francis, patron of Italy! For this reason, our morning prayer went up to heaven “with one mind and heart” towards the Lord: Lauds, in Italian; Mass in French, English, Spanish; sermon in Italian to thank the sisters of Sta Rosa’s community of Grottaferrata who have welcomed the Chapter members for two months We say a big thank you to the four celebrants: Fr. Gilles O.F.M., Fr. Tony, S.S.S., Fr. Roberto O.C.D. and Fr. Andrea, O.C.D.

In his homily, Fr. Gilles recalled the two great loves of Francis; these are God and the brothers, above all those in need. Saint Francis divided the time God gave him between these two: on the one hand for the conquest of souls, on the other contemplation in solitude. And we? How do we use these two moments with God’s Spirit?

The Chapter members are still listening to the Spirit; the chapel is never empty and the meals are taken in silence.

Happy feast of St. Francis

Painting by Frances Falk, fmm

Her Commentary:

The Lord Give You Peace!

Two circles blue and red overlap. They create a white almond shape which radiates, giving birth to a circle of white light symbolic of oneness and wholeness. Francis' encounter with Sultan Malik al Kamil and significance of that for today is already stated in an abstract way. The hands about to touch strengthen further the meaning of reconciliation of opposites, breaking the spell of dualisms and collaborating in peace to create a new world.
