We have a new Superior General !

Today there is a special atmosphere in the house. It is truly the “day that the Lord has made”. At 9 o’clock the doors of the Sala Pia close in on the Chapter members. It is a time of waiting. Little by little, the personnel of the Chapter, the sisters of the community of Sta. Rosa and St. Helen’s, from Via Giusti, Via Crescenzio, the Vatican City, the novitiate and from everywhere in the house of Grottaferrata begin to gather near the doors of the Sala Pia. 

Suddenly, around 10 o’clock, there is an outburst of clapping in the Sala PIa, the doors are opened: Sister Suzanne Phillips (Sue), Australian, has just been elected Superior General for the next six years. 

There is joy as well as emotion! Father José Rodriguez Carballo, Minster General of the Friars Minor is present and Sr. Christiane passes on the ring to Sister Suzanne. 

The song of the Magnificat resounds from everyone’s lips and all go out towards the ‘Salle des Piliers’ to greet Sister Suzanne and to embrace her. 

God our Father, bless our new Superior General and each of us, since on the day of the month for the missions and on the feast of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Sister Suzanne counts on each of us.
